The Drolc Quartet, founded in 1950 by violinist Eduard Drolc, quickly established a reputation as a first rate classical ensemble and recorded regularly for Deutsche Grammophon from 1965. Here, released on CD for the first time, is their best remembered series of recordings, still a benchmark for performance of Reger’s cycle of five quartets. Karl Leister joins them in the Clarinet Quartet.
