With a smooth edge Jewel Case
Japan-for-U.S. original CBS Masterworks CD pressing of their 1983 LP configuration (D 37756), featuring a digital recording of Richard Strauss’ “Ein Heldenleben” by The New York Philharmonic (presented as one long track, as was common with early classical CD releases!) under the baton of Zubin Mehta. The packaging features a fold-out booklet with liner notes by Phillip Ramey (translated into French by Ramey, and into German by Dr. W. Steuhl!), and color front and back covers, each featuring a reproduction of the original LP cover, which itself featured a photo of the conductor by Barry McKinley (2). (In a extremely rare circumstance, this early 1983 CD includes the original “Instructions For Removal Of Compact Disc From Package” attachment, which was glued to the back of the jewel box [so that it would be visible through the clear blister pack outer packaging!] to provide enlightenment to purchasers unfamiliar with the proper procedure for opening such packaging without damaging the contents therein … see uploaded photo for details!)
