Petrouchka was recorded on April 4, 1959; The Rite of Spring, on November 15 of the same year. Both works were recorded in Northrop Memorial Auditorium in Minneapolis. The Four Etudes were recorded on July 7, 1964, in Watford Town Hall, outside London. All works were recorded on 3-track half-inch tape using three Telefunken 201 microphones.
